Article Marketing Secrets – The Essential Ingredient for Success

January 24, 2011 By: Yvonne A Jones Category: article marketing

Know Your Objective

Your objective in submitting articles to one or many article directories is to grab and hold the attention of your readers so that they will read right down to the end of your article including your Resource Box.

It means that your title must attract their interest, and then they must be provided with high quality information to hold their interest.

What is the main ingredient that’s going to attract your target readers and keeps them stimulated to read the entire article?

A great article starts with the essential ingredient: the keyword. You cannot reach or attract your target market if your title is not rich in the keywords that your target audience is looking for. Think of it as an arrow that you’re aiming towards a particular target.  You must take time to position yourself properly or your aim will not be precise.  Your arrow will either fall short of, or zoom by and miss your target totally.

Keyword research for your articles follows the same principle.   You will need to spend some time doing your research. I’ve found that posting to my blog first and repurposing my posts into articles is the method that works best for me, and is the method that I recommend.  It, therefore, means that this research starts with blog posts; unless you’re going to spend additional time re-writing the posts before you submit them to article directories.

Focus on the Long Tail

One of the best ways to increase your article marketing conversions is with the help of using long tail keywords. A long tail keyword is a natural expansion of the generic keyword such as “gardening.” Long tail keywords are usually made up of three or more keyword strings such as; gardening for beginners; small garden design ideas, etc.

When you target the long tail keyword browser, you effectively capture a smaller slice of the market. However, you will have less competition, which increases your traffic conversions – your CTR.

For article marketing success, you must combine targeting long tail keywords with the proper structural setup of articles.  That will be discussed in my next post.
