Article Marketing: Using Monthly Article Performance Summary to Track Your Progress

August 12, 2010 By: Yvonne A Jones Category: article marketing, Business - Entrepreneur

A report can can give you a clear overview of your progress.  It can show you where you are, where you’ve been, and help you to decide where you want to or need to go so you can set your goals accordingly.

I received my first Monthly Article Performance Summary  for July 2010 from ezinearticles.com and this came at the perfect time, since I’ve decided to re-focus on Article Marketing as part of my concentrated marketing strategy for the next 6 months.

Features of the Report:

1.            It shows: (i) number of live articles submitted over ‘lifetime’ and for July 2010;  (ii) article views for the month and over the lifetime; (iii) clicks delivered for the month and over the lifetime.

2.            It also shows the Top 3 Performing Articles (Lifetime) and Top 3 Performing Articles for July 2010.

3.            The summary also gives the keywords and key phrases used to find the articles

Why are these important?  Because they are indicators of what topics readers may be looking for in the niches I write for and which keywords I should focus on for future articles.  The report will also be a way to measure my progress.  For example I submitted only two articles during July.  Since my goal is to focus on Article Marketing at the end of August I should have at least 8 articles submitted; based on two per week.

You may have set a goal for yourself to improve in a particular area of your business and have outlined the steps you will take to get to the goal. Doing an analysis of where you are at present really helps as you will be able to determine your rate and level of progress as you reach toward your goal.

I would be happy to connect with others who want to improve their article submission so we can encourage each other as we do in Blog Challenges.  We can set our own realistic challenges based on our individual circumstances.  And don’t forget, you can re-purpose your blog posts for submission to the article directories.

Which article directory or directories do you submit your articles to at present?  Please share.

Yvonne, this is a great article. You’ve added some awesome insight into the use of an Article Marketing Report. The Article Performance Summary offers great ideas for improving marketing strategies and a dynamic for building your business online. We often miss these analytical opportunities to make our businesses better, by shrugging them off or not opening them. Either way, we lose.

    Thanks for the reminder.

  3. This is one of my favorite features in EzineArticles. And I love digging into Google Analytics. Knowing what people are searching for when they find your content is so important, and sometimes surprising.

  4. I take about an hour a week and check several tracking systems to see how I’m doing.

I find however, that the systems I have in place don’t always agree with each other… but they still give me a pretty good idea of what’s going on.

I like using the article marketing report on Ezines. It matches what is going on on my blog. I can tell which areas I can mine.

I submit to Ezines.com only because it has the highest Google and Alexa rating. It might also be a time factor. If I had a VA I would have them either find me a good article submitter or do it for me.

Your comments are definitely enhancing my post as they show other ways how to keep track and confirm why it’s important to do so. I’m sure others will benefit as I have.
