By: Yvonne A Jones Category: seo

Effective SEO strategies rules the InternetEvery person who has an online business wants to get traffic to their website. There are many ways to do this using effective SEO strategies – some are paid while others are low cost SEO or even no-cost SEO.  It follows that the foundation for getting traffic to your website rests on a well-optimized website so that it can be found by the search engines and receive high rankings.

Whether you’re just starting out, or if you’re on a shoestring budget, following are 3 effective SEO strategies that you can apply to your website to improve results.

1. Link exchanges

Link exchanges or linking to and from other web sites is a no-cost way to improve your website rankings. This can be done in various ways:

i) Contact the author or owner of the web site you want to have a link exchange with.

ii) Get high-ranking links from Article Directories like ezinearticles.com by submitting well-written articles that meet their (more…)

Backlinks are important to your blog in order to increase organic search results. Organic search results are listings on search engine results pages, such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing that appear because of their relevance to the keywords being searched, instead of through paid methods, like pay-per-click advertising.

One of the most effective link building strategies is to submit articles to article directories.  When you write articles with between 400 – 700 words you have the opportunity to submit these articles to various article directories, keeping in mind their individual submission requirements.

It’s reasonable to expect that before long you will get quality inbound links from these article directories.  However, it’s important to note (more…)

Search Engine Optimization is a huge topic and there is a great deal of information available on the internet.  Keyword research is only a part of the entire package, yet for someone who is just starting a blog or article writing, understanding the basics of keyword research is enough to get started.

Today’s post is the third and final (for now) on the topic of keyword research.  As I delve deeper into the topic and learn and apply more, I will share that information.  The first post referred to was on basic keyword research and the second was on how to do keyword research.

Your goal in doing keyword research should therefore be to find and compile a list of keywords, keyword phrases or long tail keywords that have the following characteristics:

1)            A reasonable number of searches each month.  Keep in mind that while you want to used words that people are looking for (more…)

Internet Marketing For Beginners: How to Do Keyword Research

By: Yvonne A Jones Category: seo

Keyword research is basically quite easy so that beginners can get a good grasp very quickly.

Like search engines mentioned in my previous post, there are many free keyword research tools, but my tool of choice is Google External Keyword Tool.  There’s no need to attempt to remember the URL.  It’s easier to just go to Google and type in Keyword Tool External and it will usually be the first result.

It makes sense to use the results from Google since Google is the most popular search engine at this time.

To confirm you are a real person you will need to verify the characters shown and from that point you can type in your keyword and being searching.  Note that searching this way will give you limited results. By logging in with your Gmail account or (more…)

Internet Marketing for Beginners: Introduction to Keyword Research

By: Yvonne A Jones Category: seo

One of my readers recently asked why there was so much emphasis on keyword research when writing content for your blog.

To an experienced marketer this question may seem redundant, but my target market is for beginners or “Newbie Internet Marketers.”  I love questions like this because it was not too long ago that I did not understand the importance of doing keyword research, and even after I understood WHY, I did not understand HOW to do it effectively.  Let’s start at the beginning:

  • What are keywords?

Keywords are words or phrases (often called long tail keywords) that people use to search for information online, in any niche.

  • How will people find your information (your blog) using keywords?

Search engines use robots to crawl the internet 24/7.  While there are various search engines I’m going to focus on the largest of (more…)

When many of us  started an online business we knew very little, if anything about Search Engine Optimization (SEO).  While I immediately understood that one could not create a blog or any other type of website and expect it to be found among the millions of websites online, understanding how to make sure that my site was found was not clear.
