Content Creation by Repurposing Increases Value to Your Customers & Prospects – Part 1
As someone who is doing business on the Internet you recognize that the Internet provides lots of resources for people to get information quickly. In addition, when someone is looking for something they want that information right away. After all it's been said that we live in a microwave generation where everyone wants everything NOW!
What this means for your business and mine is that we have to spend the time making sure that the information on our websites is current and relevant to the needs of people. One of my Mentors, Connie Ragen Green, makes the point that we have to give our readers what they want, not what we know they need.
The problem with all of this is that content creation takes a lot of time and it can be challenging to find topics and material that are relevant to what our readers are looking for. One solution is re-purposing or sometimes called recycling your content. This is a great time-saver and if done correctly adds to, rather than takes away from the value of the content on your website.
Most of us are familiar with the concept of recycling materials as in many cities you are required to separate materials like bottles, plastic, and newspapers for recycling. This prevents waste! Have you looked at many containers of some of your favorite products recently? What do they say? Some are made from 50% recycled materials, others are made from 100% recycled materials. Items that were previously used have been recycled into other valuable containers, packaging, etc.
The same is true of the content on your website! If we have been blogging for any length of time, we have a wealth of content and information on our website. If you've been submitting articles to the Article Directories you also have lots of valuable content. Today we will look at two ways you can recycle some of this information:
1. Dice Long Blog Posts: Most of us prefer to write short posts on our blog, but from time to time you may have a topic that you feel you need to expound on and it becomes quite lengthy. Go back and take a look at that post. Could you get two or three articles from the post and submit these to article directories? Some article directories, like ezinearticles.com, will accept article submissions with less than 300 words. Others require 500 or more, so it's important to check out the requirements of each.
When you submit your articles to the various article directories you are exposing yourself to an entirely new set of readers. In addition your article can be re-published in various places: magazines, editorials, etc. allowing you to get free publicity since anyone who uses your article is required to keep your Resource Box intact.
2. Maximize the Value of Your Article Resource Box: You are familiar with this is you submit to the article directories. If you're new to Article Marketing the Resource Box is considered a most valuable online real estate as it gives you an opportunity for others to learn a little about you, but a lot about a product you may want to take them to. In your Resource Box you have the opportunity to guide your readers to take a particular action and lead them to the next step. This could be to a product like an e-book that you created or it may be to an affiliate product.
There are many more ways, some of which I have not begun to use but in my next post, we will consider some other ways you can repurpose or recycle existing content on your website and increase the value to your customers.
What methods have you used to re-purpose your products?
