Increase Visitors to Your Blog by Increasing The Value You Provide

August 05, 2010 By: Yvonne A Jones Category: Branding, Business - Entrepreneur, Business - Home-Based Business, Mindset

Recently I have been focusing on the value of having a blog, which should be the hub of your online activities.  In talking with people, visiting forums, I've found out that the reason some people do not understand the value of having a blog because in many cases they started a blog, but did not get traffic or visitors to their blog, so they became discouraged and gave up.

I found this video by Lisa Irby of http://2createawebsite.com that's approximately 9 minutes, in which she shared some valuable pointers:

For your blog to be successful, some of the key points Lisa made that I took note of were:

  • You need to treat your internet business seriously
  • You need to provide something of value on your blog
  • You need to be thoroughly engaged in you audience
  • You need to solve actual problems

What are your thoughts?  What other suggestions would you make for someone who's struggling with their blog?

  1. I think the weakest area of blogging is “solving problems.” Unless you offer some type of solutions… it’s just another “journal” which are a dime a dozen. It’s okay to be a little personal once in awhile… but it should not be the main thrust of your blog.

  2. I agree, Kathy, and I think that one of the reasons many people may hold back on offering solutions to problems on their blog could be the fear that if they are teachers and they reveal too much, someone would not want to pay to be taught by them. The opposite is true. When I read a blog that offers me valuable information, that builds my desire to learn from that person because it tells me that if they are will to provide a lot of free content, they must have a lot more to offer as a teacher. That, of course, is my personal opinion, and I welcome other points of view.
